About Mt Kailash Guge Kingdom Tour

Mt Kailash Guge Kingdom Tour is  a program that combines three great places in Tibet.  Lhasa the heart and soul of Tibet, Mt. Kailash the most sacred mountain in Asia and Guge Kingdom the wonder of Ngari.

Mt Kailash Guge KingdomTour begins with a visit  of Lhasa, which is often referred to as the heart and soul of Tibet. In Lhasa there are many impressive monasteries, temples and palaces to see including the famous Potala Palace. Then our Mt. Kailash Guge Kingdom tour sets off from  Lhasa to the Ngari region in the far west, driving through the vast, dry plateau with stunning views of the Himalayas in the backdrop. The landscape, adorned with heavily eroded sandstones and sand dunes, is absolutely gorgeous, and you will get to witness nomadic groups tending flocks of sheep and goats, and herds of yak.

The Ngari region is home to Mt. Kailash (6,714 m), the most sacred mountain in Asia. Buddhists, Bons, Hindus as well as Jains deeply revere the mountain. Keeping the spiritual dimension aside, the mountain is sublime, and so is the journey. The sandstone canyons and valleys of the upper Sutlej River hide numerous ruins of ancient cities, all of which once comprised the kingdom of Guge. In fact, many temples in that area are still in decent condition. The murals and motifs that you will find there contain more than ten millennia of history. Mt Kailash Guge Kingdom tour program can be regarded as one of the best trip in Tibet.

Guge was founded almost a thousand years ago by one of three sons of Lang Dharma, the anti-Buddhist king. With its cave dwellings, crumbling Tibetan Buddhist gompas and stupas, exquisite murals, sculptures and stone inscriptions, the Guge Kingdom is a museum of the history of Western Tibet.
