The Poon hill trek involves traversing the foothills of the Annapurna range. The journey offers stunning panoramic views of the central Himalayas, and a mind-blowing sunrise view from the top of Poon hill (3,210m). The trail is short and only moderately challenging, but the views that you would potentially witness are weather dependent. Rest assured that the journey would be rewarding even in case of poor visibility. The terrace fields and rugged hills that you pass along the way will make up for it.
The journey starts in Pokhara from where you will drive to Naya Pul, which is about an hour away. Passing through bamboo and rhododendron forests filled with spectacular birds, as well as several traditional Magar and Gurung villages, you will catch several glimpses of the central Himalayas. The sights of Dhaulagiri I, Tukuche, Nilgiri, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Tarke Kang are all part of this excursion.
