    About Nepal Tibet Tour

    Nepal Tibet tour is a program which connects two great places of the Universe.  Kathmandu is one of the vibrant city of Asia having immense wealth of culture, mix religion, historical monuments with wonderful friendly people.  Whereas Lhasa the heart and soul of Tibet situated at an elevation of 3,500 m is the city of wonders.  It has some great interesting monasteries,mystic palaces and amazing landscape to view.

    The tour in Nepal begins with a visit to famous hill resort of Nagarkot renowned for mountain views. It is at an elevation of 7,200 feet and boasts a 200-mile panorama of the Himalayas that extends from Dhaulagiri in the west to beyond Mount Everest in the east (weather permitting).  Then the tour will take you to some beautiful historical spots listed in the World Heritage Site. Bhaktapurrenowned to the arena of tourism for being a masterpiece in art and architecture, Patan a city of fine arts,  Boudhnath Stupa which is the centre of Tibetan Buddhism, Pashupatinath the holiest temple of the Hindus.

    Next, we take a breath taking trans-himalayan flight to the holy city of Lhasa which is the centre of administration and authority of Tibet.  Thetour in Tibet initially will revolve around Lhasa valley for couple of days visiting the magnificent Potala Palace, the spiritual Jokhang temple and some of the other wonders.Then we have a day excursion to one of the holy lake of Tibet Yamdrok Tso with the beautiful backdrop views of the snow-capped mountains.

    Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu our Representative will greet with garlands, assist them and then drive 28 kmseast  tofamous hill resort of Nagarkot renowned for mountain views. It is at an elevation of 2,000 m, and boasts a 200-mile panorama of the Himalayas that extends from Dhaulagiri in the west to beyond Mount Everest in the east (weather permitting).

    After escorting to your designated hotel you’ll be assisted in checking into your room. Before checking in, the timing and location for a short briefing session concerning your trip will be arranged.

    Morning get some fantastic panoramic view of the Himalayas (weather permitting) along with the beautiful landscape.  Have breakfast then hike till Telkot exploring the Tamang villages which provides you bit of rural touch of Nepal.After drive to Kathmandu, a bustling ancient city full of colors and excitement.  On the way we visit BHAKTAPUR once the capital of the entire valley.Here lies the Durbar Square (ancient Palace) the home of traditional art and architecture, historical monuments and craft works.Place has the conglomeration of pagoda and shikhara-style temples, famous fifty-five window palace of brick and wood. The square is one of the most charming architectural showpieces of the Valley as it highlights the ancient arts of Nepal.  You can also visit the pottery square and watch life in potters square go about its business.

    In the afternoon visitBOUDHNATH STUPAthe largest stupa in Nepal and the holiest Tibetan Buddhist temple outside Tibet. It is the center of Tibetan culture in Kathmandu and rich in Buddhist symbolism. It was built around 14th Century in the shape of giant mandala or diagram of the Buddhist cosmos.

    Surrounding Boudhanath Stupa are streets and narrow alleys lined with colorful homes, Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, and street vendors.

    In the late afternoon it is wonderful to be in Boudhnath as you can see activities of people lightning the light, circumbulating and offering prayers.

    After drive down to the Hotel for an overnight stay.

    Today we will visit Swayambunath Stupa, the Kathmandu’s oldest and the most important shrine. It is the monuments which mark the birth place of the Kathmandu Valley which later developed into the country of Nepal.It is perched atop a hill on the western edge of Kathmandu valley overlooking most parts of the valley. To visit a stupa is said to be the same as meeting a Buddha in person as it represents Buddha’s mind. It offers peace, freedom and joy to the whole world and ultimately helps us to obtain perfect enlightenment.

    Then from here we drive 7 km southeast of Kathmandu to theancient city of PATAN also known as a city of fine arts. Place is an enchanting mélange of palace buildings, artistic courtyards and graceful pagoda temples.  This city has many 15th to 17th century, Hindu and Buddhist, monuments built during the Malla dynasty.

    Late afternoon we visit PASHUPATINATH, a two tiered golden roof and silver door temple, considered to be Nepal’s most sacred Hindu shrine and one of the subcontinent’s great Shiva sites. Here you can find a sprawling collection of temples, ashrams, images and inscriptions raised over the centuries along the banks of the sacred Bagmati River.  This is a temple of Lord Shiva. In the evening we can see the performing of the Arati. The Arati is  an expression of one’s complete and unflinching love towards God. It is sung and performed with a deep sense of reverence, adoration, and meditative awareness.

    After, we return back to Hotel for an overnight stay.

    This is a free day waiting to get the Chinese visa.  In case if interested in optional tours we can always organize it.

    In the morning as per the flight schedule we will transfer you to the airport for flight to Lhasa. The flight duration for Kathmandu / Lhasa is 1 hour & 10 minutes. Take picturesque photograph of the icy peaks of the Himalayas from air while flying to Lhasa. During the flight (weather permitting) you will see the YarlungTsangpo river (Brahmaputra), Yamdrok-tso Lake, Mt Kanchenjunga (8586m),  Mt Makalu (8463m) and Mt Everest (8848m). Upon arrival at Gonggar Airport complete your immigration formalities and then meet your guide outside the baggage claim area.  We then drive to Lhasa which takes an hour – check in at the hotel and then take a complete rest for acclimatization. Overnight at the hotel.

    After breakfast, you are going to visit theDrepung Monastery, located in the west suburb of the city. It is one of the ‘Three Great Monasteries’ and the largest one in Tibetan Buddhism. Looking from a distance, the monastery is like a heap of rice, consisting of a group of white buildings layer upon layer.

    Then we visit Norbulinka, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama founded in 1755 by Seventh Dalai Lama and was expanded during 1758-1804 by the 08the Dalai Lama.  This palace was used as a Summer Palace from 08th Dalai Lama to 13th, in 1959. The New Summer Palace in the center of the park built between 1954 to 1956  by the present 14th Dalai Lama.

    Also this day we visit Sera Monastery which is situated 5 km north of Lhasa. This is a Gelukpa monastery which was founded by SkyaYeshe a disciple of Tsongkhapa in 1419.  Once it had huge population of around 5000 monks but now it has been reduced to just few hundreds. In the afternoon between 3 PM to 5 PM debating is held in the monastery’s debating courtyard which is interesting. Overnight at the Hotel.

    This day is quite an exciting day as we will be visiting Potala Palacethe symbol of Tibet and as well as the UNESCO world heritage site. This is the winter palace of the Dalai Lama, it comprises of the White and the Red Palaces with 1000 rooms. This was the site of King SongtsenGampo’s palace during the mid-7th century. Potala has been the home of each of the successive Dalai Lamas, although since construction of Norbulingka summer palace in the late 18th century, it served only as a winter residence.   It was the seat of the Tibetan Government and with chapels, cells, schools for religious training and even tombs for the Dalai Lamas.

    After we visit the famous Jokhang Temple and the bustling Barkhor Market. Jokhang temple is a 1300 year old golden roofed building situated at the center of the Barkhor market area, it is the spiritual heart of both the city and of the Tibetan world.  Whereas the Barkhor street market a quadrangle of streets that surrounds the Jokhang Temple is the pilgrimage circuit of Lhasa as well as a trading center.

    Today is day excursion to Yamdrok Tso (Lake)one of the most beautiful highland lake in Tibet and one of the three sacred lakes in Tibet. Situated at an elevation of around 3,800 m it is around 150 km South west of  Lhasa  and takes around 2 ½ hrs each way.  YamdrokYumtso Lake is a kind of low salt lake formed by the snow melted water from the snow capped mountains nearby. The lake looks like a holy sapphire. Under the clear azure sky, the clean water of the lake is as smooth as the surface of fine blue jade. Yamdrok Lake is said to be the female Guardian of Buddhism in Tibet. Every year, many local Tibetans and visitors from Lhasa and from other places would come here for pilgrimage or sightseeing.

    Drive goes along the Tsangpo River, it  involves crossing of Kampala Pass (4,794 m) from where you can get a fantastic distant view of the Holy Mount NyenchenKhangsar, the Dumo Plain and mountains in the south. We will descend to the bank of Yamdrok Tso Lake, admire the stunning beauty then after we will visit Samding Monastery as well as visit one of the local Tibetan families to see their way of life. May be if we are lucky, we will be invited for a coup of butter tea.  After, we retreat back to Lhasa for an overnight stay at the hotel.
