Tour starts with an approx. 2 km drive westward toSwayambunath Stupa, the Kathmandu’s oldest and the most important shrine. The monuments mark the birth place of the Kathmandu Valley which later developed into the country of Nepal. The stupa represents Buddha’s mind. To visit a stupa is said to be the same as meeting a Buddha in person. It offers peace, freedom and joy to the whole world and ultimately helps us to obtain perfect enlightenment
Next you will be driven to Bhaktapur which lies 18 km east of Kathmandu and rests at an altitude of 1401 m. Once the capital of the entire valley, Bhaktapur now is the most isolated and unchanged among the three former kingdoms. Covering an area of 4 sq. miles, this ancient Bhaktapur city is utterly peaceful yet its busy streets preserve the medieval atmosphere of the city’s bygone days.
On your way back from Bhaktapur, you will visit the Pashupatinath temple. Considered to be the subcontinent’s holiest Lord Shiva shrine, Pashupatinath with its two-tiered golden roof and a silver door is situated very near to the banks of the sacred Baghmati River. The temple is surrounded by numerous smaller shrines, ashrams, images, idols and inscriptions raised over the centuries.
