This is a day hike which starts from Nagarkot famous for panoramic views of the mountains to another great place for mountain viewing Dhulikhel. Nagarkot is around 32 kms east of Kathmandu and has elevation of 2,175 m. It boasts a 200-mile panorama of the Himalayas that extends from Dhaulagiri in the west to beyond Mount Everest in the east (weather permitting).Walk takes around 5 to 6 hours through different villages with good mountain view on a good weather day. Sometimes the trail goes through the jeep trail. Good for those who do not have much time for the starter.
After an early morning breakfast we drive 32 km east of Kathmandu to Nagarkot famous for mountain views which is the starting point of the trek. It is at an elevation of 7,200 feet and boasts a 200-mile panorama of the Himalayas that extends from Dhaulagiri in the west to beyond Mount Everest in the east (weather permitting).
From Club Himalaya hotel, Nagarkot we start hiking through a small walking trail which cuts across the hillside and takes you towards Rhonnie Bhanjyang. The views of the Panckhal valley to your left are beautiful, on a clear weather day you will again get a fantastic view of the mid Himalaya, including the Mt. Everest. Our hike continues through the rugged little jeep track until you come to a flat spot of land with couple of farm houses. This is Rhonnie Bhangyang. From here we follow the straight road, than after climb up towards a short sharp hill arriving at an intersection with another jeep track. We take the left turn and follow this road along the ridge. After about a kilometer, a small trail on the right takes you down into the next valley. We will then take a trail going downhill through the hillside which is dotted with villages. Our hike continues through the villages of Kankre and Tanchok. From Tanchok, we will again hike in another main jeep track then we climb uphill for around a kilometer to Tusal. From here we will head again towards right to the Larsish town cross the main jeep track and head directly to Dhulikhel. The trail meets the Arniko Highway 1 km from the main town of Dhulikhel, at Himalayan Horizons Hotel. Here our vehicle will be waiting for you we then drive back to Kathmandu. This is around 5 hrs walk.
